Winter Solstice

The shortest day, the longest night. 

I had never heard of Winter and Summer Solstice till I began Kundalini Yoga. 

I often feel that my previous life was  somewhat lived in a different dimension.  I just love all the stuff I learn in this life time, it’s all so familiar but yet so new.

Winter solstice is  time for introspection, a time to go inward, a time to reflect upon the past without too much attachment, or dwelling on what we haven’t liked about out past, so that we can move beyond this day knowing what we want to leave behind, and what we want to nurture into the longer days coming ahead.

Tonight’s class kriya will be working on opening the ‘heart chakra’ our area of compassion.  I like to remind students, and myself, that compassion is not only to others, but also to ourself, giving ourself unconditional love.  When we learn to love ourselves unconditionally we can then love others.  How we feel about ourself, is what we radiate out to others.

Love yourself a little bit more every day.  Be grateful for each new moment to express self-love.  Be grateful for all that you have and not focus on the lack.

When you witness the challenges the world faces, send unconditional love and pray that solutions be found with love.
